Waterline Project Monthly Update - August 6, 2026

On Wednesday, August 5, 2026, the Town held its monthly project meeting with State Utility Contractors to receive updates on the waterline project.   Included in this update is the status of each segment of the project.  The waterline along Hwy. 49 and Jackson Street from the Water Treatment Plant to North Drive began this week.  This segment will be completed during August and September.  Another waterline segment on Allman Road Extension and Seneca Road has also been approved and is scheduled to begin in September with completion by the end of the year.  The chart and map at the end of this update show the status of each segment of the project.

Oldenburg Street Paving - Update June 25,2026

Paving on Oberhaus Street and Waldeck Court are complete.  Due to extensive base repair needed on Erbach Lane, the project will take longer than anticipated.  The contractor will return the week of July 6 to complete resurfacing and backfill on Erbach Lane.  Marksburg Court will likely also be paved due to available funds and mobilization, since it is the only road in Oldenburg to not have previously been resurfaced.

Waterline Project Monthly Update - June 25, 2026

On Wednesday, June 25, 2026, the Town held its monthly project meeting with State Utility Contractors to receive updates on the waterline project.   Included in this update is the status of each segment of the project.  A new waterline segment has been added to the project along Hwy. 49 and Jackson Street from the Water Treatment Plant to North Drive.  This project addition will take place from mid-July to September.  The chart and map at the end of this update show the status of each segment of the project

Sewer Line and Manhole work on Hillside Drive, Ridge Avenue, and New Street - Update June 25, 2026

As an extension of the Lower Adams Creek Sewer Outfall project, approximately 215 feet of older sewer line and manholes will be replaced on Hillside Drive.  Project mobilization will begin the week of June 15.  Crews will also be replacing one manhole in Ridge Avenue and one manhole on New Street at the intersection of Ridge Avenue the week of June 20.  The work on Hillside Drive will begin the week of June 29.  All work is expected to take 4-6 weeks.  Road closure signs will be in place on Hillside Drive while work is occurring, but residents will be able to access their homes.  Please call Town Hall at 704-436-9800 if you have questions.

Park Drive Waterline to be Installed - April 2, 2026

A new 2-inch waterline will be installed along Park Drive on the Town Hall property to serve McAllister Park, the Lion's Club, and the building that currently houses the Lunch Plus program. This will improve water volume to better serve these buildings. This project will affect traffic flow on Park Drive beginning Monday, April 6 through Friday, April 17.

Side Street Tie-Ins Continue on W. Franklin St. - February 6, 2026

Utility contractors are working to complete side street tie-ins to the new waterline on W. Franklin Street.  Water service interruptions of approximately 3-5 hours are expected for each tie-in.  Please call Town Hall at 704-436-9800 with questions.  The following schedule has been provided by the contractor:

  • Monday, February 9:  S. Halifax Street
  • Tuesday, February 10:  Eagle Street & Page Street
  • Wednesday, February 11:  Abbott Street & S. Skyland Drive (affects Abbott Street, Eagle Street, Pinecrest Drive, S. Skyland Drive, and Allman Rd. Extension)
  • Thursday, February 12:  N. Skyland Drive

Side Street Tie-Ins on W. Franklin St.-January 28, 2026

State Utility, the contractor for the waterline project, has informed the Town that on Thursday, January 29 and Friday, January 30 crews will be completing tie-ins to the side streets on W. Franklin Street.  Tie-ins will be completed at Halifax St., Summer Street, Hillside Drive, and College Street.  Service interruptions will occur on S. Halifax Street, Summer Street, Hillside Drive, New Street, Ludwig Street, Ridge Avenue, S. College Street and a portion of N. College Street for 3-5 hours for each of the four tie-ins, between 8am and 5pm on Thursday and Friday.  Please call Town Hall at 704-436-9800 if you have questions.

Service Tie-ins on W. Franklin Street Week of January 19

State Utility, the contractor for the waterline project, has informed the Town that beginning Monday, January 19, crews will be completing service tie-ins to the new line for customers on W. Franklin Street. Each tie-in can result in service interruption of approximately 30 minutes for that customer. There is sometimes a bit of air/cloudiness after the connection is first made. Running an outside faucet for a few minutes will help clear air in the line.

Waterline Project Update - January 16, 2026

Monthly project meeting schedules were altered during November and December due to the holidays.  The next monthly project meeting is scheduled for January 28, but there has been a lot going on, so the Town wanted to go ahead and provide and update between meetings.
