Big Plans for Mount Pleasant are Underway.

The Town of Mount Pleasant is working on several capital improvements projects to upgrade aging infrastructure. It has been 85 years since the Town’s first water lines were installed on Main and Franklin Streets. Their construction in 1937 allowed for the establishment of the Mount Pleasant Fire Department and construction of McAllister School (currently Town Hall).

Now Mount Pleasant is building on that foundation for its future.  Between 2022 and 2026, the Town will undertake the capital improvement projects detailed within this site.

On Monday, September 15, the utility contractor will be performing an open cut across NC Highway 73 (Franklin Street) to continue the installation of the Main Street Waterline.  The contractor has received approval from NCDOT for extended work hours that day in order to reduce the amount of time that the crew is working in the intersection.  Traffic control will involve a shifting lane closure and flagging with assistance from the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office.  Please be mindful as you approach and travel through this work zone.  Also, during the week of September 15, the line will cross the corner of the parking lot that serves Moose Pharmacy and Buddy’s Place.  Unfortunately, this will necessitate the parking lot entrance from S. Main Street and most of the parking area to the side of Moose Pharmacy and the front of Buddy’s will be closed.
