Beginning April 2, North Main Street will be closed from Highway 49 to Cook Street for the Town's waterline replacement project. This section of North Main Street will be closed to through traffic for approximately 2 months as crews replace the lines. Access will be maintained for local traffic only to residences on N. Main Street. Mail, garbage collection, and yard debris collection will still be able to access residences on their regular schedule, but delays may occur. Emergency services and Cabarrus County Schools are also being notified. The official detour utilizes Highway 49 and Highway 73/Franklin St (see map below). Cook Street, Park Dr., and N. Washington St. may also be utilized for local traffic and those accessing businesses and facilities on Cook Street and N. Washington St. Detour signage will be in place. Utility contractors are replacing old 6-inch cast iron pipe with new 12-inch lines.
