Big Plans for Mount Pleasant are Underway.

Two different projects will result in brief road closures on Cook Street and S. Main Street over the next two weeks.

During the week of February 24, 2025, utility contractors will close the eastern end of Cook Street at the intersection of N. Washington Street to start work on the Town's waterline project. Cook Street will be reopened by the end of the week (Feb. 28).  This work was postponed from the week of February 11, due to rainy weather.  The Atrium Health Office and Gordon's Funeral Home can be accessed on Cook Street coming from N. Main Street. The Library/Active Living Center & Virginia Foil Park can be accessed from N. Washington Street coming from E. Franklin Street (Hwy. 73).

Beginning Sunday, February 16 through Friday, February 21, utility contractors will be working to replace four sewer manholes on S. Main Street between Franklin Street and Lee Street. The street will be open to local traffic, except the area where the work is taking place. Those conducting business at the Post Office or Uwharrie Bank are encouraged to use the driveways on Barringer Drive. The work between Buddy's Place and Uwharrie Bank will take place Sunday, February 16 through Tuesday, February 18. Buddy's Place will be closed on Monday, February 17 to facilitate the work. The work between Barringer Drive and the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity will take place Wednesday, February 19 to Friday, February 21.
