Utility contractor BRS Inc. is working on manhole and sewer line replacement. During the week of August 12, two sewer manholes were replaced on Summer Street. Beginning the week of August 19, BRS will mobilize on C Street and Wade Street to replace old clay sewer lines and a stormwater culvert on C street. Sections of these roads will be closed as work occurs before moving to the next section. This will take place on C Street and Wade Street for approximately 4 weeks (through mid-September). Residents will still be able to access their homes, and there is no anticipated interruption of service. A small section of NC Highway 73 (E. Franklin Street) near C Street will also be affected with utility work. Letters have been sent to the residents of the area affected to make them aware of the work taking place. After work on C Street and Wade Street is complete, the crews will move on to sewer lines on A Street and Reid Street.
