N. Main Street in Mount Pleasant will reopen to through traffic the afternoon of Friday, October 17. Beginning the week of October 27, the waterline utility contractor will close W. Franklin Street (NC Hwy. 73) between Main Street and Halifax Street, as required by NCDOT. This section will be closed for approximately 8 weeks, while the waterline is installed. Access for local traffic and businesses in this section of W. Franklin Street will be maintained, but caution and patience will need to be exercised. Signs are being put in place today to make travelers aware of the upcoming closure. The detour will utilize N. Main Street. Through travelers between Albemarle and Concord are encouraged to use Highway 49, Highway 24-27, Hwy. 200, & Hwy. 601, if possible.
